We test our products in a ridiculous number of ways. We are one of a very few dairies to maintain an on-site, state-of-the-art laboratory – equipped with the latest technology to help monitor and evaluate our products. Each load of raw milk is subjected to a battery of laboratory tests. Our technicians are trained to determine off odors; they smell and taste every batch personally. In fact, testing of our products occurs more than 25 times – from receipt of raw milk through the "sell by" date on product cartons.
Most of all, AE Dairy is known for its weekly taste tests. Erickson family members, management, production, and sales staff get together to sample all products made weekly. The panel judges each product’s texture, taste, and aroma. The process not only acts as another link in our quality control chain but as an initial critique of any new product. And we taste our competitors’ products every week just to make sure ours is our very, very favorite. (It is.)
Because freshness is ridiculously important, this whole process happens fast. Milk is converted to your favorite AE product within 24 to 48 hours. This includes milk and cultured products such as cottage cheese, dips, sour cream, yogurt, and ice cream mix. (Don’t forget our ridiculously yummy nondairy items, like our juices, too!)
Compared with other dairies, AE Dairy is ridiculously small, and this is ridiculously good news for you. We’re small enough to be flexible for our customers.
