The Swedes were on to something, and AE Buttermilk adds moist tenderness to this traditional cookie.


Ingredients
  • 2 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup butter or margerine
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 cups AE Buttermilk
  • 7 cups flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda (dissolve in buttermilk)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla

Directions

Cream together sugar, margerine and eggs. Add dry ingredients alternately with buttermilk. Chill dough (approximately 1 hour). Roll small pieces into a pencil shape and then form into a figure 8. Bake at 450 degrees until light brown.
